About the Art
As a self-taught artist, I have tried all styles and media
of art, but have settled on a watercolor based animation style. I
have come to really enjoy creating works with bold colors and
crisp lines, and the best way I have found to create this effect
is through the mixed media of ink and watercolor pencil.
You could say that mermaids are my favorite subject, but I like
to think they chose me. I can't get enough, and am currently focusing
all my creative energy on them. When it comes to creating these
elusive creatures, it is all about the face and the hair. These
two components are what define my recognizable style. Violet-haired
mermaids are sort of a trademark of mine, but I have fun experimenting
with other color schemes and themes. I am always thinking of new
ideas and developing my skills.
The driving force behind my art is indescribable joy. Many people
tell me that they feel something when they look at it, and specifically
state that, whatever it is, it is in the eyes. Every artist
hopes to invoke emotion with her art; it is what makes artistic
creation a worthwhile venture. It makes me happy and creates joy
in my life, so knowing that it affects others in a similar way is
just icing on the cake!
My Schedule
I do not run a rigid schedule, but I can offer some of my general
work habits. I usually produce and place up for auction 3 to 5
original Art Cards on eBay each week on 5 day listings, and list
the first edition print the following day. I schedule all of my
auction-style listings to begin and therefore end at 6:00pm PST,
or very close to that time. Fixed price listings (limited edition
prints) can be listed any time of day, and I put them up sparingly.
My print and product store is currently under construction. If
you have a request for a print you have seen (that is not on ebay
right now) please email me and I would be glad to sell one
to you at the ebay price.
I do create larger pieces (either 5 x 7 or 8 x 10), but
I am only producing about 1 to 3 in a month because of the time
it takes to create them (sometimes I have a short attention span!).
